How it works

Three steps to your estimate.

1

Answer plain-language questions

Family size, income range, assets, school year — nothing arcane. Skip what you don't have.

2

See SAI, Pell & net price

A clear summary with the three numbers that matter, and how each input contributed.

3

Run what-if scenarios

Adjust a lever (assets, second child in college, income change) and watch aid update in real time.

Who it's for

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is this the official FAFSA form?

No. This is an estimator. The actual FAFSA is filed at studentaid.gov. We help you predict aid and plan documents before you file.

What is the Student Aid Index (SAI)?

SAI replaced EFC on the FAFSA. It is a number colleges use to determine your need-based aid eligibility. Lower SAI generally means more aid.

Does this estimate Pell Grants?

Yes. We estimate Pell eligibility based on family size, income, and federal tables. Final amounts depend on enrollment and the official FAFSA result.

Do you store my financial data?

By default, no. Your numbers stay in your browser. You can choose to save a scenario to your account so you can revisit it later.

Will the school I apply to see this?

No. Estimates are private to you. Schools only see what's reported on your official FAFSA and CSS Profile.

Is it free?

Yes. The estimator is free. Plus users can save multiple what-if scenarios and compare them side-by-side.
